AI Thread Summary
Levels of proteins like NFKappa can potentially be lowered to match those of younger individuals through various biological mechanisms. The body regulates protein concentrations in response to environmental factors, employing strategies such as reduced gene transcription, degradation of mRNA transcripts, and post-translational protein degradation. Techniques like anti-sense RNA may offer a method to achieve these lower protein levels, similar to how white blood cell levels can be manipulated. The discussion highlights the complexity of protein regulation and the potential for targeted interventions to modify protein levels in the body.

Can levels of a protein like NFKappa be lowered to be the same as a younger person's levels? (I mean can either the body be made so that it makes a lower protein level or can the level of protein be reduced after it's been made) I mean because for example people can lower white blood cell levels/the levels of things like that

Perhaps anti-sense RNA would do the trick...

Yes, the concentrations of specific proteins are heavily regulated in response to environmental conditions. There are a lot of ways this is accomplished, including reduced transcription of the gene in question, degredation of mRNA transcripts, and degredation of the protein post-translation.

I am reading Nicholas Wade's book A Troublesome Inheritance. Please let's not make this thread a critique about the merits or demerits of the book. This thread is my attempt to understanding the evidence that Natural Selection in the human genome was recent and regional. On Page 103 of A Troublesome Inheritance, Wade writes the following: "The regional nature of selection was first made evident in a genomewide scan undertaken by Jonathan Pritchard, a population geneticist at the...
