AI Thread Summary
Rodin coils are believed to generate a unique electromagnetic field, primarily due to their specific design and configuration. There is uncertainty about whether this effect can be replicated with different wire configurations that might enhance the magnetic field strength. The discussion highlights a lack of comprehensive resources or methods available online for generating similar effects. Concerns are raised about the claims surrounding Rodin coils, particularly regarding their ability to produce a magnetic field even when the current is off. Overall, the conversation emphasizes a need for more research into the electromagnetic properties of Rodin coils.

I've been wondering for a while, a Rodin coil's magnetic field generation is the center as a strong open air magnetic field is it unique or is it easily duplicated with different wire configurations that might have this property in a stronger manner more easily.
I have tried to find other methods of generating this same effect on the internet but have been unable to.
I realize that the rodin has a lot of junk and bunk associated with its properties but that aside I'm really only interested in its magnetic properties at this point

I have also been looking at Rodin coils lately, and I find it very troubling (fx this talk on TED ), that it could generate a magnetic field, even when the current is turned off. Any one knows anything about rodin coils' electromagnetic properties ?

This is from Griffiths' Electrodynamics, 3rd edition, page 352. I am trying to calculate the divergence of the Maxwell stress tensor. The tensor is given as ##T_{ij} =\epsilon_0 (E_iE_j-\frac 1 2 \delta_{ij} E^2)+\frac 1 {\mu_0}(B_iB_j-\frac 1 2 \delta_{ij} B^2)##. To make things easier, I just want to focus on the part with the electrical field, i.e. I want to find the divergence of ##E_{ij}=E_iE_j-\frac 1 2 \delta_{ij}E^2##. In matrix form, this tensor should look like this...
Thread 'Applying the Gauss (1835) formula for force between 2 parallel DC currents'
Please can anyone either:- (1) point me to a derivation of the perpendicular force (Fy) between two very long parallel wires carrying steady currents utilising the formula of Gauss for the force F along the line r between 2 charges? Or alternatively (2) point out where I have gone wrong in my method? I am having problems with calculating the direction and magnitude of the force as expected from modern (Biot-Savart-Maxwell-Lorentz) formula. Here is my method and results so far:- This...
