LaTeX Chat program where you can use latex

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around the search for a chat program that supports LaTeX or similar typesetting for mathematical expressions in real-time communication. The original poster, Nille, is looking for a client akin to ICQ or MSN that allows for live math typesetting. While a suggestion for a web-based LaTeX tool was provided, Nille clarifies the need for a dedicated chat client. Participants express the potential for such a program to become a valuable tool for scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. There is also a query about the availability of a TeX rendering library for Java, highlighting a gap in resources for this specific need.

Hi!
Does anyone know of a chat program where you can use latex or something similar to typeset math in a chat? Like this forum, but live...

Thanks in advance,
Nille

Thanks for responding!
However, I was more thinking of a chat client, like ICQ, MSN, IRC or similiar.

Thanks again,
Nille

I did a google search and came up with nothing. It is a very good idea. Perhaps if someone wrote such a program, it would be the next killer app for scientist, mathematicians and engineers..

That is to bad! But is there a TeX rendering library available somewhere? Not a tex2dvi compiler, but a renderer... for java, perhaps?

Sorry, couldn't find anything of that sort.
