AI Thread Summary
When a post is reported, forum staff reviews the thread, but no public record of the outcome is made, leaving the reporter unaware of any actions taken. If a thread is closed or missing, it may indicate that action was taken. While the forum prefers to handle issues privately to avoid public embarrassment, they do keep track of repeat offenders, who may face bans. The person whose post is reported receives private reprimands if necessary, and the identities of reporters are kept confidential to maintain community harmony. Overall, the focus is on maintaining a respectful environment without public shaming.

If a post is "reported" against, what exactly happens?

Thanks. And where would the outcome of the whole thing posted?

So, the person who has reported against something in a post never knows whether any action has been taken at all against the OP?

Right but, if the thread is missing or closed that is a decent sign something was done, no?

I'm obliged for getting matter of fact answers from you.

If the post is edited or removed for using insulting language against somebody, the others should also know of it, because nobody's going to visit an old post. The OP should be reprimanded, depending on the degree of his misconduct. Needn't make a fuss out of it, but an example should be set. And the person with the grievance and the offender both should at least come to know of it. Public image and esteem count a lot in the forum.

That's all. Thanks for your patience.

We prefer to handle grievances privately rather than publicly. We do keep track of them, so if someone is repeatedly being a "trouble-maker" they will find themselves banned. If it's a one-time mistake or lapse in judgement, there's no need to embarrass them publicly. If the staff agrees there is a problem with a reported post, the person writing the post is reprimanded via private messages. Likewise, we do not reveal the identity of the people making post reports either, so there are no long-term hard feelings among members if everything gets worked out.

Sounds reasonable. Thanks for the replies.
