Question - Regarding a cnc cmm controller, What is tunneling?
How is this measured? What impact does the cmm structure have on this characteristic?

If you command the probe to move in several axes at once, tunnelling is a measure of how closely the probe follows a straight line path to the new position.

It can be important if you need to move the probe through holes with small clearances, etc. In other situations it doesn't matter at all.

CNC controllers which have continuous feedback of the probe position as it moves do this better than simpler types of controllers (DCC) without feedback.

regarding a cnc controller..are trapezoidal algorithm better than S curve algorithm regarding performance?
