MATLAB Comparing MATLAB and R for Statistical Analysis

AI Thread Summary
MATLAB is favored for statistical analysis by users who are already familiar with its interface, offering a range of functionalities that can match or exceed those found in R. While R is primarily a statistical programming language with a syntax that some find challenging, it is highly specialized for statistical tasks. Users note that MATLAB may provide a more efficient workflow for those comfortable with it, suggesting that the choice between MATLAB and R largely depends on individual preferences and familiarity with the software. The discussion highlights the importance of user experience over inherent software limitations.

Hello, I just want to get people's idea on something: I am using MATLAB for doing statistical analysis since I am very much used to MATLAB than using other statistical software. Do you think MATLAB is good to use for that or do you think it has inherent disadvantages compared to other programs like R? R has a very weird syntax that i have trouble getting used to.

I did a quick search on this but could not find anything useful for me. sorry if this is discussed before and please let me know where i can find the discussion

Thanks!
D.

R isn't a language per say, right? Its just a statistics package program. Its limited in that it primarly does statistics (from what I recall). Certainly you can do anything in Matlab that you could do from R, perhaps more efficiently as well.
Just my opinion.
