Schools Comparing the good and bad universities around the world.

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on comparing the quality of average and below-average universities across different countries, particularly focusing on the United States, China, and India. Participants highlight that while top schools in various countries are generally strong, the perception is that even lesser-ranked universities in the US and the West tend to offer a better education than their counterparts in China and India. Key factors contributing to this belief include the overall reputation of US institutions, the quality of education, and the marketability of degrees obtained from these universities, especially in STEM fields. The emphasis is placed on how reputation influences global perceptions of educational quality. First-hand experiences and insights are sought to further understand these differences in educational standards.

It goes without question that the top schools of most countries are pretty good, but how do we compare the average and bad universities from different countries?

I often hear (especially on this forum) that bad and average universities in the US (and the west in general) are usually still better than comparable universities in China (and India).

So my question is: Is this true? And if so, what makes that education better?

I appreciate any insight anyone has, especially if you have first hand experience.

Also, this question is mostly regarding STEM subjects.

I believe an education at a university in the US is generally more marketable around the world. To sum it up in one word: reputation.

Hi community My aim is to get into research about atoms, specifically, I want to do experimental research that explores questions like: 1. Why do Gallium/Mercury have low melting points 2. Why are there so many exceptions and inconsistencies when it comes to explaining molecular structures / reaction mechanisms in inorganic and organic chemistry 3. Experimental research about fundamental Quantum Mechanics, such as the one being followed by Hiroshima university that proved that observing...
