How did you find PF?
I always have science questions and this site has popped a number of times on google search
I am getting old in years but with unfinished business. All the things I didn't get when I was younger. The biggest and not the least was in the area of electricity and electronics.
I also have a feeling that I may have posted a question on this site without remembering introducing myself... it is like some kind of twilight zone. I feel like I posted something about Rotating Magnetic Field and someone from France replying. I think I maybe as someone might say, " you are out there man"... Okay I better be here for now.
I hope I can be of some asset to this site and not just a taker. I can teach someone like "Persian", construction questions...
Thank you and may the Force be with you always.

Welcome to the forum. I suggest you read the rules, as they actually matter on this forum.

In particular, one of the rules is no questions in the intro section. Post your question in the appropriate forum.

I read the rules and it looked rather unclear. When I clicked on it, then it appeared like it was a place to post. details, file attachement link, just like regular posting set up I know. I stood there pausing and deciding if I should click the back buttons... well here I am. This was fast reminder. Maybe a delete is the best thing but is there such option?

No need to delete, just edit out the question part of your intro and post it in the appropriate subforum.

I believe that newcomers still get a welcoming email in which it is stated that questions are not appropriate in the intro section. Did you not get something like that?

EDIT: I just checked and you are correct. There is nothing directly in the rules about no questions in the intro section. I think that's left to the welcoming email.

I absolutely did. Besides like I said it was right there when I logged in. It is after I began to introduce myself which you can see I was started out with that mind set ( not counting that even the title needed editing... but I won't embarrass myself with that yet :-) ) Then furthermore I started out with other than the subject. But like I said instead of introduction, it looked like a place you post. I am wondering why one needs details and file attachments in a page that one is simply introducing oneself. That is what I struggled with. My reasoning I am afraid is not views as having any weight or validity. In that case like I said, you may delete because I can't. It is out of my hand and water ( is it under a bridge or over a bridge?). I never did understand the bridge thing... have you? :-) English is my second language, haven't you picked up on that?

Well, there's no big need to delete it, just don't continue with the question but post it elsewhere.

If you really want it deleted, just click on the "report" button and ask the moderators to remove the question part. Personally, I wouldn't bother them with it. They are volunteers who keep this place running smoothly and they don't need extraneous extra work from us.

@Meta_Alchemy, Berkeman is an exceptional moderator. Although he winks at it, I think he actually DOES enjoy the extra work. I often joke that he actually LIVES here and eats nothing but pizza. When he gets tired, Greg (the site founder/owner) let's him sleep on a cot in the back room.
