AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the feasibility of creating a generator, termed a "reality drive," that harnesses energy from the fundamental nature of reality itself, specifically from subatomic particle vibrations. Participants argue that this concept lacks scientific grounding and is akin to perpetual motion machines, which have been proven impossible. The consensus is that such a generator is not a viable scientific idea and has never been recognized as feasible. The conversation emphasizes the importance of adhering to established scientific principles when considering energy generation methods. Overall, the notion of a reality drive is dismissed as overly speculative and unscientific.

While conventional means of energy production require fossil fuels and nuclear fission, do you guys think it will be possible to create a generator that runs off the very existence of reality? A reality drive so to speak. It can pull energy off the vibrating loops that make up sub atomic particles at the plank scale.

I'm afraid that "a generator that runs off the very existence of reality" is not a scientific concept. Please reread the PF Rules on Overly Speculative Posts.

Honestly, I don't think that would be possible. Like Vanadium 50 said, it is simply not a scientific concept and has never been considered one.

Then there's the Infinite Improbability Drive . . . . .

It's called a "en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perpetual_motion"[/URL] machine. Many many inventors (and some scientists of old) have tried and failed to create one. They are, in fact, impossible.
