They are as inherent to all humanity as benevolence and altruism is.
 
I know quite a few people who think of other peopel and other peoples interest.

I know someone who thinks almost exclusively in the terms of other peoples interests (which seems to lead towards a very screwed up existence for them ironically).
 
One nice thing about egotists: they don't talk about other people.
