Schools Entrance in Princeton University for Post doct. in cosmology

AI Thread Summary
To gain entrance into a post-doctoral position in Cosmology at Princeton University after completing an integrated M.Sc. and Ph.D. in India through the JEST exam, candidates must understand that post-doctoral roles are competitive job positions rather than qualifications based on GPA or exams. Success in securing a position often hinges on the relevance of the candidate's Ph.D. research to the proposed post-doctoral work, possessing specific skills required for the role, and any prior communication or collaboration with the research group at Princeton. Networking and aligning research interests with the prospective post-doctoral project are crucial for enhancing candidacy.

Post-doctoral positions are positions that you're hired into. You don't qualify for them by having a certain GPA, or passing a particular exam. You compete for them against all the other applicants for that position, just like any other job. Things that can help are if your PhD work happens to be in the same area or on a similar problem to the one the post-doctoral work is proposing to work on, if you have particular skills that are needed to perform the work, or if you've had some kind of previous communication or collaboration with the group.

I just finished group theory (today actually), and it was my least favorite class in all of university so far. It doesn't interest me, and I am also very bad at it compared to other math courses I have done. The other courses I have done are calculus I-III, ODEs, Linear Algebra, and Prob/Stats. Is it a...
