What is Grid Networking and Where Can I Learn More?

AI Thread Summary
Grid networking involves creating a high-speed data network that connects multiple sites, typically for applications requiring significant bandwidth. It is not tied to specific software but rather encompasses various applications that may require adjustments for optimal performance, especially when transitioning from LAN to WAN environments. For learning purposes, free software options are available, but the effectiveness of grid networking depends on the specific application and its requirements. Understanding the nuances of network transport design, such as SONET and gigabit Ethernet, is crucial for implementing grid networking effectively. Resources for further information include specialized articles and forums that delve into the technical aspects of grid networking.

Iam new to the concept of Grid Networking.
Can anybody explain it ?
Is there any forum/ site to know more on tht subject ?
What kind of softwares should i use ?

PLz Help !

Are you talking about grid networking for wide or metropolitan area networks?

What specifically did you want to know? You mentioned software, but first let me ask you what your application is. Are you trying to do this over a WAN or MAN?

I do the network transport design for these, SONET, GigaMan, gigabit ethernet, etc...

Try these links for a bit of background info and also let me know what it is you are trying to accomplish. I will see what else I can scrounge up for you.

I am sorry . i just need it for Learning purpose.
I need freewares. I have already seen those links.
I need softwares. How to use it. And how to grid computers.

Grid networking is not created by any specific software, at least not in the common use of the term. I think the term is also used in some gaming applications? Perhaps you are thinking about playing games?

True grid networking is a high speed data network linking multiple sites together. The software and applications used can be just about anything. Depending on which applications you are deploying, network "tweaks" would be necessary to gain optimal performance. Things like windowing need to be considered, was the app made to run on a LAN? if so, it will usually perform terribly over a WAN.

So unless you have a need for gigabit ethernet or greater links between geographically diverse locations, you won't be doing grid networking in it's true sense.

Maybe you are referring to something else? Did you look at the links I posted explaining grid networking?

This week, I saw a documentary done by the French called Les sacrifiés de l'IA, which was presented by a Canadian show Enquête. If you understand French I recommend it. Very eye-opening. I found a similar documentary in English called The Human Cost of AI: Data workers in the Global South. There is also an interview with Milagros Miceli (appearing in both documentaries) on Youtube: I also found a powerpoint presentation by the economist Uma Rani (appearing in the French documentary), AI...
Thread 'Urgent: Physically repair - or bypass - power button on Asus laptop'
Asus Vivobook S14 flip. The power button is wrecked. Unable to turn it on AT ALL. We can get into how and why it got wrecked later, but suffice to say a kitchen knife was involved: These buttons do want to NOT come off, not like other lappies, where they can snap in and out. And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
