Howdy, I'm Vince. I'm a big fan of math and physics. I have a BA in pure mathematics. By day I'm a software developer working on 3D graphics-y stuff, and in my spare time I'm trying to find a discrete basis for quantum physics. I've had a teensy bit of success by finding what I think may be a combinatoric expression for the probability distribution of the second energy level of a quantum harmonic oscillator (the first is just a binomial distribution). Next I want to do some related proofs and find an expression for the nth energy level of a QHO.

So, I'm a nerd, but I'm posting on Physics Forums, so that's a given.

Hello everyone, I'm Cosmo. I'm an 18 years old student majoring in physics. I found this forum cause I was searching on Google if it's common for physics student to feel like they're in the wrong major in the first semester cause it feels like too much for me to learn the materials even the ones that are considered as "basic math" or "basic physics", I've initial fascination with the universe's mysteries and it disconnect with the reality of intense, foundational mathematics courses required...
