AI Thread Summary
The user is seeking an alternative to Google Reader due to its limitations, specifically the lack of nested folders and the inability to mark previously read items as unread. A significant factor in their reluctance to switch is the shared items feature in Google Reader, which facilitates easy sharing and commenting among friends. The user is looking for a feed reader that can integrate with Google Reader's shared items and comments while offering the desired features, with a preference for open-source options. They mention using Feedburner and The Old Reader, as well as the greader app for Android, indicating a familiarity with various feed management tools.

I'm currently using google reader as my feed reader, but due to a lack of some features (the biggest ones are nesting folders, and the ability to mark previously read items unread again) want a different reader.

The only thing keeping me from switching so far, is the "shared items" in google reader, and the ability to comment on them. It makes it so easy to let your friends know about things, and to discuss them in a context you might not want posted on the blog for everyone to read.

I don't suppose anyone knows of a feed reader which can interact with google reader's shared items/comments, and also has these other features? (even better if it's open source)

Thanks in advance.

I've always used Feedburner, but that is also a Google product.

I use theoldreader web site, the greader android app also can use it as a source.

In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
Sorry if 'Profile Badge' is not the correct term. I have an MS 365 subscription and I've noticed on my Word documents the small circle with my initials in it is sometimes different in colour document to document (it's the circle at the top right of the doc, that, when you hover over it it tells you you're signed in; if you click on it you get a bit more info). Last night I had four docs with a red circle, one with blue. When I closed the blue and opened it again it was red. Today I have 3...
