Friend Request that won't die

AI Thread Summary
A user is experiencing an issue with rejecting a friend request, where clicking the reject button does not yield any results. It is noted that the system requires users to check a box next to the pending request before selecting to accept or reject it. After following this method, the user successfully managed to reject the request. The misunderstanding stemmed from assuming the checkbox was merely for highlighting the avatar. This solution effectively resolved the issue.

I currently have a friend request that I can't reject. I click the reject radio button, then hit save changes, and nothing happens. What do I do?

Accept it?

That still doesn't do anything

The system isn't smart enough to know to whom that the accept/reject selection pertains, even if you have but one pending friend request. You have to indicate to which of the potentially many friend requests your accept/reject selection pertains.

Apparently you have one pending friend request that you would like to get rid of. Bring up the manage friend requests window. You should see a check box next to the user who has a pending friend request. Click that check box for that and then click the button that rejects/accepts selected pending friend requests.

Hahahaha! It worked! I thought that check box was just to highlight the guy's avatar or something

Thanks

I want to thank those members who interacted with me a couple of years ago in two Optics Forum threads. They were @Drakkith, @hutchphd, @Gleb1964, and @KAHR-Alpha. I had something I wanted the scientific community to know and slipped a new idea in against the rules. Thank you also to @berkeman for suggesting paths to meet with academia. Anyway, I finally got a paper on the same matter as discussed in those forum threads, the fat lens model, got it peer-reviewed, and IJRAP...
About 20 years ago, in my mid-30s (and with a BA in economics and a master's in business), I started taking night classes in physics hoping to eventually earn the science degree I'd always wanted but never pursued. I found physics forums and used it to ask questions I was unable to get answered from my textbooks or class lectures. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way and I never got further the freshman courses. Well, here it is 20 years later. I'm in my mid-50s now, and in a...
