Game of Bridge: Easily Finish Dealing Cards After Interruption

AI Thread Summary
In a game of bridge, if a dealer is interrupted and forgets who received the last card, they can quickly resume dealing without counting cards by recalling the order in which they dealt. By remembering the sequence and knowing how many cards are left in the deck, the dealer can efficiently finish distributing the remaining cards to ensure each player receives the correct number without discrepancies. This method allows for a smooth continuation of the game while maintaining fairness among players.

You're playing a game of bridge with 4 people. You're dealing the cards, when suddenly the phone rings and you go pick it up. When you come back to the table, you can't remember who got the last card. How do you finish dealing the cards quickly and without counting the cards of any player, with everyone getting the same cards as they would have had you gone uninterrupted?

Well I don't know bridge...but I'm guessing you'd count the number of cards left in the deck. Assuming you remember to whom you dealt first, you could figure it out.

That's a sure way, but too slow...

You deal from the bottom of the deck, starting with yourself!

And on that note, I'm off to bed...

Thread 'My experience as a hostage'
I believe it was the summer of 2001 that I made a trip to Peru for my work. I was a private contractor doing automation engineering and programming for various companies, including Frito Lay. Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
