AI Thread Summary
To connect a gamepad with an ordinary game port to a laptop lacking this port, users should first check if the gamepad came with a gameport-to-USB connector. If such a connector is not available, the gamepad was not designed for USB compatibility. In this case, purchasing an inexpensive USB gamepad may be a more practical solution. This ensures compatibility with the laptop's available ports. Overall, using the right adapter or opting for a new gamepad is essential for functionality.

gamepad that connects to an ordinary "game port"

I have a gamepad that connects to an ordinary "game port" (audio cards usually have those) on a PC. I want to connect this game pad to my laptop which doesn't have this kind of port.
What can I use to connect my game pad to my laptop?

if it came with a gameport-to-usb connector, then use that, if it did not, it was never mean to use a usb port, and you migyht want to pick up a $8 gamepad for the laptop.

Sorry if 'Profile Badge' is not the correct term. I have an MS 365 subscription and I've noticed on my Word documents the small circle with my initials in it is sometimes different in colour document to document (it's the circle at the top right of the doc, that, when you hover over it it tells you you're signed in; if you click on it you get a bit more info). Last night I had four docs with a red circle, one with blue. When I closed the blue and opened it again it was red. Today I have 3...
