Hi everybody, i am currently studying Mechanical engineering and about to enter second year... i was thinking of doing my masters in mechanical from world renowned colleges like MIT, Caltech, etc. ... i want to know which among such colleges are the best ? And what should one have to do to stand a good chance in applying for these colleges?

There is no good answer to that. What area of research interests you? That's the most important factor, and the best program will depend on that.

Well i am into designing of low - cost products right now, and am confused what sort of specialization should i undertake which helps me in designing new and innovative products. For ex. i have developed a low cost method for domestic cylinder users a way through which they can get the amount of gas remaining in a cylinder.

TL;DR Summary: I want to do a PhD in applied math but I hate group theory, is this a big problem? Hello, I am a second-year math and physics double major with a minor in data science. I just finished group theory (today actually), and it was my least favorite class in all of university so far. It doesn't interest me, and I am also very bad at it compared to other math courses I have done. The other courses I have done are calculus I-III, ODEs, Linear Algebra, and Prob/Stats. Is it a...
