Studying Good resources to help with hard physics classes?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on finding effective resources for a college-level intro honors, calculus-based physics class. Participants recommend the National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) for its comprehensive lectures from esteemed Indian institutions like IITs and IISERs. Additionally, Schaum's Outlines are highlighted as valuable for their solved problems and simplified explanations. These resources are aimed at providing in-depth mathematical understanding and clarity in complex topics.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of calculus and its application in physics
  • Familiarity with quantum physics and nuclear physics concepts
  • Basic knowledge of problem-solving techniques in physics
  • Ability to navigate online educational platforms
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore NPTEL's course offerings in physics and related fields
  • Investigate Schaum's Outlines for specific physics topics
  • Research additional online platforms like Coursera or edX for physics courses
  • Look into supplementary textbooks recommended by professors in the field
USEFUL FOR

Students enrolled in calculus-based physics courses, educators seeking supplementary teaching materials, and anyone looking to deepen their understanding of complex physics concepts.

I'm having quite a bit of difficulty in my college's intro honors, calc-based physics class. I want to find some good resources, either online or text, to assist with learning the material. The issue I'm having is that most resources I find are either not in depth enough, or they're just as complicated as my prof lectures.
----I'm looking for something that goes very in depth mathematically, as well as goes over the material in a way that elaborates thoroughly and/or is easier to understand.
Any advice on companion books, textbooks, or websites, etc would be amazing!

Check out NPTEL, National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning, an initiative by Govt. of India. The site hosts tons of very good lectures given by professors at Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISERs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc).

Go to the course page, search for your course, and you should get a number of lecture courses. In a rare case, the topic might not be available.

I am myself studying from NPTEL. Quantum physics, nuclear physics, maths, computer science, engineering, chemistry and what not! I truly recommend this site. Check the site. Go through the topics in a course, and see if they suite your needs.

Hope that helps!

Schaum's outlines are great resources and great sources of solved problems with more bare-bones explanations of the concepts:

TL;DR: How can I begin to gain an understanding of astronomy? Hello there, and thank you in advance to anyone that might answer this. I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post a question like this, as I am new to this website and also very nervous about making a post that others might see/reply to. I am a freshman in high school and I am interested in astronomy. I want to learn about space, but I am not quite sure where to begin. Is there anything that I can do to seriously expand my...
