Grad Physics: How to Select Thesis Topic & Research Paper Sources

AI Thread Summary
Selecting a thesis topic in physics requires careful consideration and guidance from academic advisors or supervisors. It's crucial to ensure that the chosen topic aligns with the expertise available at your institution and meets specific academic requirements. A broad request for a topic in "all of physics" is not practical; narrowing down the focus is essential for effective research. Engaging with faculty members who can provide insight and direction is recommended for a successful thesis selection process.

I'm puzzled. Isn't this a question that you should be asking your supervisor, advisor, or the professor that you want to evaluate your thesis?

Think about it. If we gave you a topic, and you decided to work on it, and NO ONE at your institution approves of it or have an expertise in it, will this be allowed? You gave no information on where you are, what requirements are attached to this thesis, etc...etc. You might as well ask this question to strangers you meet on the street.

Zz.

Furthermore, you want a topic for "physics". All of physics?? You really can't narrow it down other than "physics"?

Hey, I am Andreas from Germany. I am currently 35 years old and I want to relearn math and physics. This is not one of these regular questions when it comes to this matter. So... I am very realistic about it. I know that there are severe contraints when it comes to selfstudy compared to a regular school and/or university (structure, peers, teachers, learning groups, tests, access to papers and so on) . I will never get a job in this field and I will never be taken serious by "real"...
