AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around a Grade 9 geography project focused on stem cell research and its impact on Canada. The student seeks ideas for a model that demonstrates the significance of stem cells, emphasizing the need for a functional aspect to achieve a good grade. Suggestions include creating a model that illustrates the stages of stem cell development or highlighting the broader social and economic implications of stem cell technology, rather than focusing solely on the biological aspects. A potential model could represent a stem cell drug that aids in tissue regeneration, showcasing its effects on healthcare and longevity. The student aims to build a model from scratch that effectively communicates the relevance of stem cell research in Canada.

1. Homework Statement

I have a class in grade nine geography and as our final assignment we have to pick a topic on things that effect Canada. I picked stem cell research, got my info, but I have no idea of what to make the model. I tried thinking of everything, I'm in academic and for me to get a good mark it must "do something" (Ex. Solar Energy Model = A car -moving- because of solar energy). Most of the easy topics are taken now so I can't change, I still have 2 weeks but I want to get it over with since exams.

2. Homework Equations

None

3. The Attempt at a Solution

I've tried to think of many things, like how a stem cell evolves, but that would be very complicated and costly. I seriously am out of ideas, please help.

Help would be greatly appreciated,
Cigz

I'm not completely clear on what you need to do (or why you're researching stem cells for a geography class), but you might want to think of something along the lines of demonstrating stages of development where stem cells exist (i.e., they're not all of embryonic origin) and what sort of potential each type has (i.e., totipotent, pluripotent...)

It's hard to make a "working" model of something that happens at a microscopic level.

Don't think of it on the microscopic level in my opinion, think of the whole industry and idea of it. I wouldn't focus on the biology part of it as much as the social impacts. How would our health care system change because of this technology? How about the economy if people start living longer?

A model could be a stem cell drug that heals because of stem cells rebuilding the diseased or damaged tissues. I'm not sure if you want a model that you can actually show or build or just write about..?

Thanks for the ideas, the model is suppost to be built from scratch to show how stem cell research has effected Canada. I am trying my best to think of how I could make it do something.

Thanks for the replies,

Thread 'Confusion regarding a chemical kinetics problem'
TL;DR Summary: cannot find out error in solution proposed. [![question with rate laws][1]][1] Now the rate law for the reaction (i.e reaction rate) can be written as: $$ R= k[N_2O_5] $$ my main question is, WHAT is this reaction equal to? what I mean here is, whether $$k[N_2O_5]= -d[N_2O_5]/dt$$ or is it $$k[N_2O_5]= -1/2 \frac{d}{dt} [N_2O_5] $$ ? The latter seems to be more apt, as the reaction rate must be -1/2 (disappearance rate of N2O5), which adheres to the stoichiometry of the...
I don't get how to argue it. i can prove: evolution is the ability to adapt, whether it's progression or regression from some point of view, so if evolution is not constant then animal generations couldn`t stay alive for a big amount of time because when climate is changing this generations die. but they dont. so evolution is constant. but its not an argument, right? how to fing arguments when i only prove it.. analytically, i guess it called that (this is indirectly related to biology, im...
