AI Thread Summary
The discussion explores the concept of converting an applied force to a 90-degree angle without using a separate body, such as a fulcrum, which typically introduces reluctance to motion. It compares this idea to a seesaw, where the fulcrum is essential for force transfer but also creates resistance. The conversation suggests the possibility of using a fluid system, where pressure applied to the fluid could generate a normal reaction, potentially functioning like a spring. The feasibility of such an arrangement remains uncertain, prompting further contemplation on innovative mechanical designs. Overall, the inquiry seeks alternatives to traditional force deviation methods that minimize resistance.

Till now...has anyone made such an arrangement that converts an applied force to 90+ degrees completely without use of any separate body which causes reluctance to motion?

I mean take a see saw arrangement...if force applies on one side, the force is transferred to the other side (or deviated by 180 deg), but via another body which acts as a fulcrum.

In the above case the fulcrum is the separate body which causes reluctance to motion.

So till now...has anyone made such an arrangement such that it can deviate the force without use of such a fulcrum as in the seesaw arrangement?

would a brake work? I mean a fluid acting as your object.

The thing providing pressure to the fluid will cause the body to give a normal reaction.

Its like a spring actually.

Pondered on that before

Hello! Let's say I have a cavity resonant at 10 GHz with a Q factor of 1000. Given the Lorentzian shape of the cavity, I can also drive the cavity at, say 100 MHz. Of course the response will be very very weak, but non-zero given that the Loretzian shape never really reaches zero. I am trying to understand how are the magnetic and electric field distributions of the field at 100 MHz relative to the ones at 10 GHz? In particular, if inside the cavity I have some structure, such as 2 plates...
