So I got a random email today telling me that I was accepted into the university honor society (honorsociety.org), whatever that is, due to my academic excellence and nomination. This is laughable considering my GPA sucks (although I have a 4.0 major GPA, just haven't taken many major classes yet).

Is this different from the NHS? If so, is it of any use/importance? Should I accept or does it even matter? Also, does this organization just send these out to a list of students, or do you have to be nominated by someone first?

Thanks and try not to make too much fun. I'm sure this bull crap.
