Microsoft's promise of increasing Hotmail storage to 250MB starting July 1 has not been fulfilled, leading to user frustration over the lack of updates. Users are also experiencing issues with Gmail, including delays in receiving replies and difficulties posting, with some reporting being unable to post due to access restrictions. Alternatives like Yahoo Mail and Rediff are mentioned, with Yahoo offering 100MB and Rediff providing 1GB of storage. Overall, there is a general sentiment of dissatisfaction with both Hotmail and Gmail's current performance and reliability.
