AI Thread Summary
A mobile phone charged in just 5 minutes and maintained a full charge for three days raises questions about battery health and charging indicators. Lithium-ion batteries degrade over time, and after five years of use, the phone's battery may be experiencing reduced capacity. The charging indicator may not accurately reflect the battery's true state, potentially showing a full charge when the battery is actually low. This scenario suggests that the phone could be running on a minimal charge, indicating a possible malfunction in the battery's ability to hold a charge or the indicator's accuracy. Users have noted similar experiences with aging batteries, where devices charge quickly but fail to hold power effectively.

How come my mobile phone recharged in 5 minutes?

On monday i had accidently left my phone on all day, and the batteries were almost empty. Then i forgot to recharge it in the evening, and the next morning was only able to do so for 5 minutes. When i unplugged it after 5 minutes, the batteries were fully charged and they have been so for the last 3 days!

How can this be possible?

The indicator lies. It may not be fully charged.

I'm sure the indicator is lying, how long have you had the phone?

Lithium Ion batteries tend to go bad after a certain amount of cycles. My old phone used to be like that too after having it for a while.

Ive had the phone for 5 years maybe. Its still lying to me and saying its completely charged. I guess i should recharge but I am curious if it will keep working without it.

I don't think the problem was with the indicator lying that it was full, but that it was empty! If it can run on 5mins charge for 3 days, then the indicator falsely told you the batteries were low, or you have a US Army hyper-Lithium Ion battery for your big chunk of a phone :)

I was just going to say that your battery was dead but I didnt see Gib Z's post. When my laptop battery was dying it would charge faster and faster until eventually when I tried to take out the power cord, it would just turn off. I'd put my money on what Gib Z said.

In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
Sorry if 'Profile Badge' is not the correct term. I have an MS 365 subscription and I've noticed on my Word documents the small circle with my initials in it is sometimes different in colour document to document (it's the circle at the top right of the doc, that, when you hover over it it tells you you're signed in; if you click on it you get a bit more info). Last night I had four docs with a red circle, one with blue. When I closed the blue and opened it again it was red. Today I have 3...
