AI Thread Summary
The discussion focuses on finding resources to understand how a Hall probe works, particularly its design and construction related to measuring the Hall effect. Users recommend starting with HyperPhysics for a solid overview, although it primarily covers the Hall effect itself. There is interest in more technical resources, including academic papers and specific applications of Hall sensors. Links to Melexis and IEEE Xplore are provided for further exploration of Hall probe applications and semiconductor manufacturing information. Overall, the conversation highlights the need for detailed technical information on Hall probes and their operational principles.

Where could I find out how a Hall probe works? I have got a book in mind called Introduction to electronics by Theodore Korneff but am not sure how useful it will be. I have searched the web but cannot find a description of its working.

Googling the term Hall probe turned up 1.2 million pages: the first one being hyper-physics. Hyper physics has a very good description of how a Hall effect probe works. What exactly are you looking for?

Yeah, hyperphysics seems to mention the Hall effect more than the probe or is that all that can be mentioned? I guess, I am looking for something which perhaps explains how the design/construction/structure of the Hall probe enables the measurement of the Hall effect. Yeah that' s actually a good way to put it.

gets into the applications of a hall sensor...

are you looking for actual semiconductor manufacturing information. If so, check these out for academic papers. You wil probably have to tweak your search a bit, but chances are you will find it.

Thread 'Where is my curb stop?'
My water meter is submerged under water for about 95% of the year. Today I took a photograph of the inside of my water meter box because today is one of the rare days that my water meter is not submerged in water. Here is the photograph that I took of my water meter with the cover on: Here is a photograph I took of my water meter with the cover off: I edited the photograph to draw a red circle around a knob on my water meter. Is that knob that I drew a red circle around my meter...
Thread 'How can I find the cleanout for my building drain?'
I am a long distance truck driver, but I recently completed a plumbing program with Stratford Career Institute. In the chapter of my textbook Repairing DWV Systems, the author says that if there is a clog in the building drain, one can clear out the clog by using a snake augur or maybe some other type of tool into the cleanout for the building drain. The author said that the cleanout for the building drain is usually near the stack. I live in a duplex townhouse. Just out of curiosity, I...
