AI Thread Summary
A man earns $20 on the first day and spends $15 on the second day, repeating this pattern. After two days, he saves $5, leading to a total of $15 saved every four days. To reach $60, he needs to complete 16 days to save $40, and on the 17th day, he earns an additional $20, bringing his total to $60. Therefore, it takes him 17 days to save $60. The discussion emphasizes the importance of tracking earnings and expenditures over time to calculate savings accurately.

Help required to solve my math home work

A man earns \$20 on first day and spends \$15 on next day, again earns \$20 on third day and spends \$15 on fourth day. If he continues to save like this, how soon he will have \$60 on his hand?

Thanks in advance

For every 2 days he makes 20 and spends 5 so he has 15

so after 16 days he shall have 40

on the 17th day he gets 20 so he shall have 60

Consider day 1 and day 2:

day 1: [math]+20\$[/math]

day 2: [math]-15\$[/math]

Thus by the end of day 2 he has $$20-15 = \$5$$ saved.

To find the amount of periods (which are 2 days remember) divide 60 by 5.

Also a note on LaTeX: If you put a backslash (\) before a dollar sign it escapes it so the board does not consider it to be LaTeX - Quote this post to see how I've done it.

Answer is 17 days I think, because on 16 days he/she has 40 and on next one day he has 20 extra, so it becomes 60 in 17 days.

Suppose ,instead of the usual x,y coordinate system with an I basis vector along the x -axis and a corresponding j basis vector along the y-axis we instead have a different pair of basis vectors ,call them e and f along their respective axes. I have seen that this is an important subject in maths My question is what physical applications does such a model apply to? I am asking here because I have devoted quite a lot of time in the past to understanding convectors and the dual...
Insights auto threads is broken atm, so I'm manually creating these for new Insight articles. In Dirac’s Principles of Quantum Mechanics published in 1930 he introduced a “convenient notation” he referred to as a “delta function” which he treated as a continuum analog to the discrete Kronecker delta. The Kronecker delta is simply the indexed components of the identity operator in matrix algebra Source: https://www.physicsforums.com/insights/what-exactly-is-diracs-delta-function/ by...
