AI Thread Summary
The discussion emphasizes the importance of adhering to posting guidelines that prohibit ridicule of members or guests while allowing for scrutiny of personal experience claims. It highlights that accusations of lying will result in infractions, reinforcing that all members must respect these rules regardless of personal opinions. In cases of suspected fraudulent claims, members are instructed to report the post or contact the moderator directly, rather than engaging in public accusations. This approach aims to maintain a respectful and constructive environment within the forum.

Please note the following from the posting guidelines

It is always appropriate to scrutinize claims of personal experiences, but ridicule of members or guests is never allowed. Also, since we all know that anyone telling a story on the internet could be lying, we assume without constant reminding than any story could be a lie. It is up to readers to judge for themselves.

Let me make this clear. If you accuse another member of lying, you will receive an infraction.

This rule applies as do all other rules regardless of any personal opinions that one may have. If you cannot abide by this rule, please leave.

I should add this: In the event of an obviously fraudulent claim, whether in fact or in your opinion, the appropriate action is to either report the post or send me a pm.

Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
