I need Russian sources (Aerodynamic and Flight Mechanics)

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around seeking recommendations for Russian sources related to aerodynamics and aircraft design, particularly for someone new to the field of mechanical engineering. The focus is on literature that can aid in understanding fluid mechanics and related concepts, especially in the context of UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles).

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Technical explanation
  • Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant expresses their need for suggestions on Russian books related to aerodynamics and aircraft design, mentioning their background as a first-year mechanical engineering student with limited prior knowledge in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
  • Another participant suggests the "Course of Theoretical Physics" by Landau and Lifshitz, specifically highlighting the fluid dynamics volume as a valuable resource, although it may not be directly related to engineering literature.
  • A third participant reiterates the recommendation of the Landau and Lifshitz series, emphasizing its quality while also noting that some volumes may be outdated.
  • A participant lists two volumes of "Aerodynamics" by N.F. Krasnov, providing a detailed table of contents for both volumes, which covers various fundamental topics in aerodynamics and fluid dynamics.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not appear to reach a consensus on specific recommendations for Russian literature, as suggestions vary and some participants express unfamiliarity with the engineering literature on fluid dynamics.

Contextual Notes

Some participants may have differing levels of familiarity with the subject matter, and the recommendations provided may not fully align with the specific needs of a beginner in mechanical engineering.

Hi guys. I need ur suggestion. Firstly, (I got to say that I'm new about this topic) I'm studying mechanical engineering and It's my first year. I've never learned about fluid mechanics or termodynamic or differantial equations before but I'm dealing with Aircrafts especially UAV. I've read Aircraft design (Daniel P. Raymer) and some other small sources and I've learned a lot. I deal to make model aircraft nowadays. It's okey.
Your suggestion is related with book. I'm looking some Russian Aerodynamic or aircraft design books. Tupolev, Ilyushin etc. Can you suggest a book for me? Thank you. (Just Russian)

Well, I'm not familiar with the engineering literature on fluid dynamics, but for a theoretical physicist the immediate association with "physics textbook" it's Landau and Lifshitz 10-volume "Course of Theoretical Physics", and the fluid dynamics book (vol. 6) is just marvelous (as are all volumes except vol. 4 on QED which is a bit outdated).

Thank you so much brosky :)
