SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the requirements for a pendulum to complete a full revolution. It is established that, neglecting friction, the pendulum must be released from a vertical position to achieve a complete revolution. The length and weight of the bob do not influence this outcome, as the motion is governed by the conservation of energy principles. Therefore, starting the pendulum straight up is essential for achieving the desired motion.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of pendulum mechanics
  • Knowledge of conservation of energy principles
  • Familiarity with frictionless motion concepts
  • Basic physics of rotational motion
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the principles of pendulum dynamics
  • Explore the effects of friction on pendulum motion
  • Study energy conservation in mechanical systems
  • Learn about the mathematical modeling of pendulum motion
USEFUL FOR

Physics students, mechanical engineers, and hobbyists interested in pendulum mechanics and energy conservation principles.

I need to find the length, weight of the bob and angle to make the pendulum a complete revolution. Kindly help me.

Neglecting friction, a pendulum only swings as high as you initially release it from due to conservation of energy. So if you want a complete revolution, you will have to start the pendulum pointing straight up and get rid of the friction. It does not depend on length or weight.

thanks dude.
