this might not be the right place for forum suggestions but this is certainly the forum where these suggestions should be implemented...

can we a get a faq (and concomitant deletions) for these topics:

can i get into harvard/stanford/cambridge/oxford/mit?

am i too dumb for physics/math/engineering?

is this course load to difficult (or its deceptive cousin 'is this course load to easy')?

will i be rich if i pursue ____(esoteric subfield of physics/math/engineering)?

i got an A- can i still get into harvard/mit/stanford/heaven?

which is the best university for ____ ?

i volunteer vanadium50 and twofish to write up most of the answers

If you have the idea, you should do it yourself. Take the initiative. You can quote previous posts by ZapperZ, Van50, twofish and others.

oh the tone of any such post that i write would be way to sarcastic and facetious. best to let the professionals do it.

I'd like to have my kitchen remodeled. Can I volunteer a few PFers to do the work for me? Experimentalists, preferably, since I'm not sure that the theoreticians really have what it takes for this sort of hands-on work.

If it works out for you, I am next in line! And I agree on the experimentalists side.

I’ve been looking through the curricula of several European theoretical/mathematical physics MSc programs (ETH, Oxford, Cambridge, LMU, ENS Paris, etc), and I’m struck by how little emphasis they place on advanced fundamental courses. Nearly everything seems to be research-adjacent: string theory, quantum field theory, quantum optics, cosmology, soft matter physics, black hole radiation, etc. What I don’t see are the kinds of “second-pass fundamentals” I was hoping for, things like...
TL;DR Summary: I want to do a PhD in applied math but I hate group theory, is this a big problem? Hello, I am a second-year math and physics double major with a minor in data science. I just finished group theory (today actually), and it was my least favorite class in all of university so far. It doesn't interest me, and I am also very bad at it compared to other math courses I have done. The other courses I have done are calculus I-III, ODEs, Linear Algebra, and Prob/Stats. Is it a...
