Hi there, Im having some problems with figuring out these two questions I have been given out for homework. Both of these make no sense to me and I cant seem to prove them, can anyone give me an insight to them?(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

1+5+9+ ... + (4n+1)=(n+1)(2n+1) for each positive integer n

and

2^2n - 1 is divisible by 3 for n = 1,2,3,....

any ideas?

Thanks.
