Integrity requirement in ACI 318 question

AI Thread Summary
The discussion focuses on the integrity and continuity requirements of ACI 318 as applied to a reinforced concrete model. The user successfully meets continuity requirements but questions the necessity of hooks as specified in ACI guidelines, noting discrepancies with the James Wight example. For integrity requirements, the user challenges the assertion that the model is simply supported, which affects its classification under ACI Code provisions. Clarification is sought on the definitions and requirements outlined in ACI 318, particularly regarding the structural integrity of non-simply supported beams. The user requests specific references to better understand these concepts.

I read an example on James Wight reinforced concrete at the model as the picture 1,
I need to satisfy both continuity and integrity requirements.
First let’s start with continuity, I achieve every requirement as required except ,that in continuity their require hook as I read I this I in specific section(picture2), while in the James Wight example there is no such details(picture 3), taking into consideration that development length is achieved without hook(but details in pictures two seems to require this.

Second, regarding integrity requirements, in the solution he said the model is simply supported so because of this it is not included in the ACI Code listing of members that are susceptible to actions
requiring structural integrity
Don’t know but this model is not simply supported beam (picture 1)
Could you please explain this, and give me reference (section that explain this) o ACI 318 so I can understand it more, since I read this from James Wight book (American book, according to ACI 310-08)
Hope you can help

Thread 'Have I solved this structural engineering equation correctly?'
Hi all, I have a structural engineering book from 1979. I am trying to follow it as best as I can. I have come to a formula that calculates the rotations in radians at the rigid joint that requires an iterative procedure. This equation comes in the form of: $$ x_i = \frac {Q_ih_i + Q_{i+1}h_{i+1}}{4K} + \frac {C}{K}x_{i-1} + \frac {C}{K}x_{i+1} $$ Where: ## Q ## is the horizontal storey shear ## h ## is the storey height ## K = (6G_i + C_i + C_{i+1}) ## ## G = \frac {I_g}{h} ## ## C...
