Is Methadone an Effective Alternative for Withdrawal from University?

AI Thread Summary
A student withdrew from a university shortly before classes began and received a surprising $2500 statement after the withdrawal. The dean approved the withdrawal, but the student is now unclear about the charges that remain. It's suggested that reviewing the invoice and understanding the university's withdrawal regulations is essential to determine if the statement is an error. The student is advised to consult with the administration for clarification on the charges. The conversation also includes an unrelated comment about trying methadone, which appears to be off-topic.

My friend withdrew form a university a week before classes start. He contacted the dean. Dean said OK and proceed with the withdrawal procedure. But now he called me saying he just got a new statement of $2500 from school, after a lot of stuff has been subtracted. It is this a mistake or what?

I think one would have to see the invoice, and what was not subtracted from it, along with regulations of withdrawing from the particular university before being able to answer such a question.

Yeah, just tell him to do sort this out with the people who can tell you if there's an error and exactly what it is. Administration people.

If it does not work, try methadone.

I’ve been looking through the curricula of several European theoretical/mathematical physics MSc programs (ETH, Oxford, Cambridge, LMU, ENS Paris, etc), and I’m struck by how little emphasis they place on advanced fundamental courses. Nearly everything seems to be research-adjacent: string theory, quantum field theory, quantum optics, cosmology, soft matter physics, black hole radiation, etc. What I don’t see are the kinds of “second-pass fundamentals” I was hoping for, things like...
TL;DR Summary: I want to do a PhD in applied math but I hate group theory, is this a big problem? Hello, I am a second-year math and physics double major with a minor in data science. I just finished group theory (today actually), and it was my least favorite class in all of university so far. It doesn't interest me, and I am also very bad at it compared to other math courses I have done. The other courses I have done are calculus I-III, ODEs, Linear Algebra, and Prob/Stats. Is it a...
