AI Thread Summary
For preparing for a final exam in analysis, recommendations include Spivak's "Calculus" and Rudin's "Principles of Mathematical Analysis." Both texts are noted for their challenging exercises, which align well with the exam's difficulty level. Spivak is praised for clarity, while Rudin is recognized for its rigorous approach and a wide range of problems, from easy to extremely difficult. Engaging with these books can enhance understanding of key topics such as sequences and series, limits and continuity, differentiation, and integration methods, potentially reflecting the complexity of actual exam questions.

Hi. I have a final exam and I need a good Analysis book. I've read Leithold's Calculus but the problems given in the exam are way more difficult and tend to be very tricky, so the book has to have difficult exercises.

The topics covered are:
Sequences and series
Limits and continuity
Differentiation
Integration.Methods of integration

Thanks.

sounds like a job for spivak, calculus.

How about rudin? it's hard but once you go through it, everything will become clear. Plus, the exercises range from easy to almost impossible... so doing them should prepare you well. (there is also a chance that actual exam problems might come from rudin).

TL;DR Summary: I want to do a PhD in applied math but I hate group theory, is this a big problem? Hello, I am a second-year math and physics double major with a minor in data science. I just finished group theory (today actually), and it was my least favorite class in all of university so far. It doesn't interest me, and I am also very bad at it compared to other math courses I have done. The other courses I have done are calculus I-III, ODEs, Linear Algebra, and Prob/Stats. Is it a...
