Is there a rating system for semiconductor manufacturers and distributors?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the lack of a centralized rating system for semiconductor manufacturers and distributors, specifically regarding the quality of suppliers for microcontrollers (MCUs). Participants express a desire for accurate opinions and experiences from industry professionals about companies like Freescale, Renesas, Microchip, and Infineon. While some suggest using findchips.com to identify distributors, there is no consensus on a comprehensive resource for customer reviews of distributors. One contributor notes that they have not encountered negative feedback about any specific distributor but offers to inquire with purchasing colleagues for more insights. Overall, the conversation highlights a gap in accessible, aggregated reviews for electronic suppliers in the semiconductor industry.

I'm looking for a way to get accurate opinions, experiences and recommendations from others in industry on the quality of different electronic suppliers. Specifically, I want to know the quality of the suppliers of MCUs.

What are your experiences with Freescale, Renasas, Microchip, Infineon, ASIX, etc?
Do you know of a better way to research the quality of their service? Is there a centralized website with such opinions?

I think you would normally buy those through distributors, at least in low/modest voumes? You can use www.findchips.com to see what disti's carry what parts. Not sure that helps on your question, though.

What are you planning to make. Depending on how complex it is and how accurate it needs to be, lower quality components could be ok.

I'm not talking about the quality of the parts. I have chosen the parts for my project. However, it is the distributors that I am hoping to get opinions on. Since my original question was along the lines of "is there a larger resource of customer experiences and reviews", I will assume the answer is no if no one posts any such thing.

I'm not directly involved in the Purchasing function, but I haven't heard of any bad things about any particular disti. If you have a specific question about a disti or a couple of distis, I can ask my Purchasing folks about it. In general, I think distis do a good job, at least the ones included at findchips.com.

Hi all I have some confusion about piezoelectrical sensors combination. If i have three acoustic piezoelectrical sensors (with same receive sensitivity in dB ref V/1uPa) placed at specific distance, these sensors receive acoustic signal from a sound source placed at far field distance (Plane Wave) and from broadside. I receive output of these sensors through individual preamplifiers, add them through hardware like summer circuit adder or in software after digitization and in this way got an...
I have recently moved into a new (rather ancient) house and had a few trips of my Residual Current breaker. I dug out my old Socket tester which tell me the three pins are correct. But then the Red warning light tells me my socket(s) fail the loop test. I never had this before but my last house had an overhead supply with no Earth from the company. The tester said "get this checked" and the man said the (high but not ridiculous) earth resistance was acceptable. I stuck a new copper earth...
Thread 'Beauty of old electrical and measuring things, etc.'
Even as a kid, I saw beauty in old devices. That made me want to understand how they worked. I had lots of old things that I keep and now reviving. Old things need to work to see the beauty. Here's what I've done so far. Two views of the gadgets shelves and my small work space: Here's a close up look at the meters, gauges and other measuring things: This is what I think of as surface-mount electrical components and wiring. The components are very old and shows how...
