AI Thread Summary
Three laptops containing sensitive campaign plans for the Bush-Cheney state headquarters were stolen from their Bellevue office in Seattle during the early hours of October 1, 2004. The theft occurred after hours, with a rock being thrown through the window to gain entry. Republican officials, including state GOP chairman Chris Vance, expressed concern over the potential impact of the stolen information, although some participants in the discussion downplayed the severity, suggesting that unless the documents are published, the theft may not be significant. There were speculations about the motivations behind the theft, with some dismissing it as a petty crime rather than a politically motivated act. Concerns were raised about the lack of security measures, such as encryption and proper storage, for the sensitive information contained on the laptops.

SEATTLE Oct. 1, 2004 — Three laptop computers containing campaign plans were stolen overnight from the Bush-Cheney state headquarters office, Republican officials said Friday.

Between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m., after the last campaign worker had gone home from the office in the Seattle suburb of Bellevue, someone threw a rock through the office window of Jon Seaton, executive director for President Bush's state campaign, said Chris Vance, state GOP chairman.

...The computers contained much of the Bush-Cheney campaign strategy for the state, Vance said. [continued]

Eh, It's not as bad as it sounds. Unless the documents and files in the labtop are published. And there are some really sensitive information, which I don't think there is. It shouldn't be such a big issue. I doubt it was politically motivated though. It just sounds like some petty criminals Stealing some Computers. I wonder if anything else was stolen.

You mean someone has appropriated the brains of the Bush organization? It may be the only appropriation there ever to have been effective.

Knowing that there is classified information on the laptops, whoever is responsible for keeping them should've use some encryption and stashed them away in a locked metal vault.

I can imagine the look on the faces of the thiefs, when after days of deciphering they finaly find the whole plan in one message flickering on the screen: "This is God speaking: stay the course! Stay the course!"

Every day we learn new things. Sometimes it's just a small fact or realization. No matter how trivial or random, let's start recording our daily lessons. Please start off with "Today I learned". Keep commentary to a minimum and just LIKE posts. I'll start! Today I learned that you clean up a white hat by spraying some cleaner with bleach on it (rinse before putting it back on your head!)
