    Ball Speed
In summary, the speed of a launched ball can be calculated by dividing the distance traveled by the time it took for the ball to travel that distance. This can be affected by factors such as the angle of launch, the type of surface the ball is launched from, and the force applied to launch the ball. The speed can also be determined by measuring the time it takes for the ball to reach a specific point. To increase the speed, one can use a more powerful launcher, increase the angle of launch, and use a smoother surface. It is important to launch the ball multiple times to get a more accurate average speed and account for any external factors.

long jump shot is released 1.7 m above the ground, 6.03 m from the base of the basket, which is 3.05 m high. For launch angles of 30° and 60°, find the speed needed to make the basket.

_______m/s (30° launch angle)
_______m/s (60° launch angle)

okay i tried using speed=meters/seconds
but it didn't work.

so i plugged in into an equation
like v=1/2gt^2

Go through your textbook or any site and find the information regarding the projectile motion.

1. How do you calculate the speed of a launched ball?

The speed of a launched ball can be calculated by dividing the distance traveled by the time it took for the ball to travel that distance. This is known as the average speed formula, where speed = distance/time.

2. What factors affect the speed of a launched ball?

The speed of a launched ball can be affected by factors such as the angle of launch, the type of surface the ball is launched from, and the force applied to launch the ball.

3. Can the speed of a launched ball be determined without measuring the distance traveled?

Yes, the speed of a launched ball can also be determined by measuring the time it takes for the ball to reach a specific point. This is known as the instantaneous speed formula, where speed = change in distance/change in time.

4. How can you increase the speed of a launched ball?

The speed of a launched ball can be increased by using a more powerful launcher, increasing the angle of launch, and using a smoother surface for the ball to travel on.

5. Why is it important to launch the ball multiple times to find its speed?

Launching the ball multiple times can help to get a more accurate average speed, as each launch may have slight variations. It also helps to ensure that any external factors that may have affected the speed are accounted for.
