AI Thread Summary
There is interest in finding affordable methods to generate light from sound, with some suggestions leaning towards piezoelectric crystals. The discussion also touches on the inverse concept of using light to capture sound, similar to techniques used for surveillance. Connecting a microphone to an LED is proposed as a potential solution. The feasibility and cost-effectiveness of these methods remain central concerns. Exploring these technologies could lead to innovative applications in sound and light conversion.

Is there a cheap way for me to get light from sound? If not, is there an expensive way?

Maybe you can do the opposite of the sound from light method used by the CIA to listen inside office buildings by using a laser reflected off the vibrating window of the office. The vibrations of course being from the people talking inside which affects the laser beam which is then converted back to sound for big brother. Simple as that!
