AI Thread Summary
Purifying food-grade magnesium chloride from industrial-grade magnesium chloride involves a process known as purification, rather than extraction. The feasibility of this purification process largely depends on the types of contaminants present in the industrial magnesium chloride. In some cases, the purification can be impractical and cost-prohibitive.

Is there any method to extract food grade magnesium chloride from industrial magnesium chloride?

It is called purification, not extraction. Depending on type of contaminants it can be impractical (too expensive).

Ok, I got it. This is one of our extracurricular questions, anyway, thank you!

I want to test a humidity sensor with one or more saturated salt solutions. The table salt that I have on hand contains one of two anticaking agents, calcium silicate or sodium aluminosilicate. Will the presence of either of these additives (or iodine for that matter) significantly affect the equilibrium humidity? I searched and all the how-to-do-it guides did not address this question. One research paper I found reported that at 1.5% w/w calcium silicate increased the deliquescent point by...
