AI Thread Summary
MotoGP racing has significantly advanced in cornering techniques, with riders now achieving the remarkable feat of getting both their knee and elbow down during races. This evolution is highlighted by the use of specialized elbow pads designed for enhanced safety and performance. The discussion notes the impressive maximum lean angles of some bikes, reportedly reaching up to 64 degrees, showcasing the extreme capabilities of modern racing machines. The conversation also humorously touches on the idea of bikes being able to balance at such angles, likening the rider's position to a "third wheel" for stability. Overall, the advancements in MotoGP cornering techniques reflect the sport's ongoing evolution and the increasing demands placed on both riders and their equipment.

I haven't been keeping up with MotoGP racing the last couple of years, but it looks like they have taken cornering to a new level. It's one thing to get your knee down at the racetrack. It's another thing to get your knee *and* elbow down! Check out the elbow pads that they wear now!

I think he's looking for quarters that have been dropped on the track...

It's a 4 wheeler if he uses the elbow. :D

Yeah, it's gotten pretty wild. Maximum lean angle, for at least some of the bikes, is reportedly 64 degrees!
