AI Thread Summary
Nitinol's heat absorption rate when in contact with a 310 degrees Celsius soldering iron is not straightforward to determine without additional information. Factors such as the thickness of the nitinol, its specific heat capacity, and the duration of contact with the heat source play significant roles. The discussion highlights a need for more details to provide an accurate answer. Users are encouraged to share specifics about their nitinol sample to facilitate better guidance. Understanding these variables is essential for assessing heat transfer in this context.

Hello, I am new here and this is my 1st post.

I want to know how fast does Nitinol absorb heat when placed in the following conditions:

A soldering iron is heated at 310 degrees Celcius, and the tip makes contact directly with the electropolished nitinol. How long will it take for the nitinol to absorb such heat to be considered that it is actually at 310 degrees?

Maybe it is a dumb question but I cannot seem to find answers on the internet.

Thanks, help is greatly appreciated

Engineering news on Phys.org
It cannot be answered with the info given.

What kind of information should I provide? I will gladly do so.

thanks

Here's a video by “driving 4 answers” who seems to me to be well versed on the details of Internal Combustion engines. The video does cover something that's a bit shrouded in 'conspiracy theory', and he touches on that, but of course for phys.org, I'm only interested in the actual science involved. He analyzes the claim of achieving 100 mpg with a 427 cubic inch V8 1970 Ford Galaxy in 1977. Only the fuel supply system was modified. I was surprised that he feels the claim could have been...
Thread 'Turbocharging carbureted petrol 2 stroke engines'
Hi everyone, online I ve seen some images about 2 stroke carbureted turbo (motorcycle derivation engine). Now.. In the past in this forum some members spoke about turbocharging 2 stroke but not in sufficient detail. The intake and the exhaust are open at the same time and there are no valves like a 4 stroke. But if you search online you can find carbureted 2stroke turbo sled or the Am6 turbo. The question is: Is really possible turbocharge a 2 stroke carburated(NOT EFI)petrol engine and...
