Now I need to know How "String" theory explains Particles!

They're called string theories because the equations that describe particiles are similar to the equations that describe occilations in strings.

Very briefly, the strings vibrate, and it's the vibrations that generate particles. Not the strings themselves but the way they vibrate. The vibrations are quantized - grouped in levels like the energy levels of electrons in atoms, and for example the graviton comes from combining two sets of vibrations at the second level. (In bosonic string theory with closed strings).

3 definitions that need a lot of work to make theoretical physics mentally tangible...

field

particle

wave

energy

oops had 3 and thought of another... DOH![zz)]

This is an alert about a claim regarding the standard model, that got a burst of attention in the past two weeks. The original paper came out last year: "The electroweak η_W meson" by Gia Dvali, Archil Kobakhidze, Otari Sakhelashvili (2024) The recent follow-up and other responses are "η_W-meson from topological properties of the electroweak vacuum" by Dvali et al "Hiding in Plain Sight, the electroweak η_W" by Giacomo Cacciapaglia, Francesco Sannino, Jessica Turner "Astrophysical...
