AI Thread Summary
The discussion focuses on the need for a suitable apparatus for conducting an organic chemistry experiment using UV light at 273 nm. The original poster is seeking advice on equipment that includes the appropriate lamp or source and filter. A suggestion is made to explore the Schneider Glasapparate website for relevant information. A participant mentions the possibility of using a low-pressure mercury lamp and clarifies that filters may not be necessary for their specific experimental needs. The conversation emphasizes the importance of selecting the right UV light source for effective photochemistry experiments.

Hello all,

Since I want to do an organic chemistry experiment by using uv-light at 273 nm I'm seeking for an apparatus with the proper lamp/source/filter.

Does anyone has any experience or advice in doing photochemistry with such specific condition and knows a system which possibly could be used?

Many thanks!

Cheers,

Ah, thanks Dr Du! Their site gives much information, I will discuss the low-pressure Hg lamp in my group.

For my purposes it is not required to use any filters.

It seems like a simple enough question: what is the solubility of epsom salt in water at 20°C? A graph or table showing how it varies with temperature would be a bonus. But upon searching the internet I have been unable to determine this with confidence. Wikipedia gives the value of 113g/100ml. But other sources disagree and I can't find a definitive source for the information. I even asked chatgpt but it couldn't be sure either. I thought, naively, that this would be easy to look up without...
