Pore pressure at different point ( seepage in soil)

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on determining the pore pressure at a specific point in soil seepage analysis. The participant expresses confusion regarding the calculation of Nd, questioning its possible values and the precise location for measuring pore pressure. It is concluded that Nd should be a whole number, indicating that the value of 5.5 is incorrect. Clarification on the exact location for pore pressure measurement is sought to resolve the misunderstanding.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of soil mechanics and seepage principles
  • Familiarity with pore pressure concepts in geotechnical engineering
  • Knowledge of the Nd parameter in soil analysis
  • Basic competency in interpreting engineering homework problems
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the calculation methods for pore pressure in soil mechanics
  • Study the significance and application of the Nd parameter in geotechnical contexts
  • Learn about soil seepage analysis techniques and their practical applications
  • Explore common pitfalls in interpreting engineering homework problems
USEFUL FOR

Students in civil engineering, geotechnical engineers, and professionals involved in soil analysis and seepage studies will benefit from this discussion.

Homework Statement

I am not sure how to get Nd in this question ( circled part)

I am not sure the exact location of the point where the author want to find the pore pressure .

Can someone help ? This notes is confusing

Homework Equations

The Attempt at a Solution

I think the Nd can be only in whole number , so the 5.5 is definitely wrong .
