Solving Problems in Quantum Mechanics, Stat Mech & Atomic Physics

In summary, the conversation suggests that there are multiple problem books available for Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Mechanics, and Atomic Physics, including the LIM series. The person being asked for recommendations suggests using the search function on Amazon and mentions some specific books such as Krotov, Irodov, Saraeva, Kosel, and "A Guide to Physics Problems." The difficulty and types of problems may vary among these books.

a straightforward ans will be of better help...WHY? should I have to do the job for you? I asked if you have tried to search for it, otherwise I could show you!

There are many problem books:

Krotov, Irodov, Saraeva, Kosel: each of these authors wrote a problem book.
Also "A Guide to Physics Problems" is a very nice book.

They vary in difficulty and type of problems.

1. What is quantum mechanics?

Quantum mechanics is a branch of physics that studies the behaviors and interactions of particles at the atomic and subatomic level. It explains how particles such as electrons and photons behave and interact with each other.

2. How is quantum mechanics used to solve problems?

Quantum mechanics is used to solve problems by applying mathematical principles and equations to describe the behavior of particles. These equations help us understand and predict the probabilities of different outcomes in quantum systems.

3. What is statistical mechanics?

Statistical mechanics is a branch of physics that uses statistical methods to study the collective behavior of particles in a system. It helps us understand how macroscopic properties, such as temperature and pressure, arise from the microscopic interactions between particles.

4. How is statistical mechanics applied in problem solving?

Statistical mechanics is applied in problem solving by using statistical methods to analyze and solve problems related to the behavior of particles in a system. This includes calculating the probability of a certain state or outcome, and predicting the average behavior of a system based on the behavior of individual particles.

5. What is atomic physics and how is it related to quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics?

Atomic physics is a branch of physics that studies the properties and behavior of atoms, specifically their electronic and nuclear structure. It is closely related to quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics, as these fields provide the theoretical framework for understanding the behavior of atoms and their components.
