Hi guys,

This is my first post on this forum so... Nice to meet all of you

I´m about to start physics this year and get focused on Quantum Medicine as a latest goal. I´m well aware of the lack of facts that show off any kind of scientific reliability about such subject nowadays. Any how I´m truly believe (please feel free to think how naive a human being can be ;-)) there is something else on this that makes me thing there should have something else our last generations (and the current on) we all are missing to consider as a small likelihood to be truth.

If I´m not wrong. all physicist´s efforts (e.g most of the Institute Max Plank´s plans) as well as budgets are pointed to Quantum Computing instead of other branches within the Quantum Science itself.

Apologies for the lack of skepticism taking into consideration but as no thread has been open yet treating such subject I would be more than happy to know your point views about that.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to PhysicsForums!

There is one area of physics that gets most budget, and there are thousands of different areas being actively studied at one time. There is always room for another curious mind, and I hope that describes you.

The answer really depends on what you mean by quantum medicine.

If you mean the quackery that goes under that name in certain quarters of the populist press then forget it - its just that - quackery.

If you mean that basic quantum principles lie at the foundation of medicine, and will be more important with the growing use areas like DNA based techniques, then yes its important. But its importance is a derived sort in explaining and understanding such, rather than direct applicability itself.

Thanks
Bill

you seems very inactive after posting such an interesting question

Not an expert in QM. AFAIK, Schrödinger's equation is quite different from the classical wave equation. The former is an equation for the dynamics of the state of a (quantum?) system, the latter is an equation for the dynamics of a (classical) degree of freedom. As a matter of fact, Schrödinger's equation is first order in time derivatives, while the classical wave equation is second order. But, AFAIK, Schrödinger's equation is a wave equation; only its interpretation makes it non-classical...

Is it possible, and fruitful, to use certain conceptual and technical tools from effective field theory (coarse-graining/integrating-out, power-counting, matching, RG) to think about the relationship between the fundamental (quantum) and the emergent (classical), both to account for the quasi-autonomy of the classical level and to quantify residual quantum corrections? By “emergent,” I mean the following: after integrating out fast/irrelevant quantum degrees of freedom (high-energy modes...
