I saw some quizzes on T.V. and was wondering what does it test? What skills does a person who is good at quizzing has? Is quizzing just remembering a lot of facts or something more?

I know people who are very good at quizzes, riddles and these kinds of stuff. I am looking for attributes that make people good at these things.
 
I'd say a good memory and the ability to link different topics to each other to figure out problems.
