Nice to get in the water but not cooling off @30C. I know it's cold where ya all are: No Schadenfreude intended.
We've got lovely weather here. Later I'm going for a bath too...

Winter has its own niceties.
Aiming for a 'first snow' hike at weekend. 🤞
There might be photos too.

More mixing desks (probably audio & lights, I think), shot at the venue Amager Bio in Copenhagen while the UK band Nothing But Thieves were performing in 2022:

Amager Bio, mixerbord (x800).jpg

It was a darn good live concert, and here is one of the few shots I got of the band with my system camera...

Nothing But Thieves.jpg

...before one of the venue guards came and told me that I wasn't allowed to take photos with system cameras (but smartphones were allowed).
Which actually surprised me and which I find a little weird. Could it be because of the resolution and the ability to make more professional shots, I wonder? Well, smartphone cameras can be pretty darn good too nowadays, and they will likely get better and better in the near future, I think...

For comparison, here's another shot of the band taken with my smartphone (Xiaomi Redmi Note 10):

Nothing But Thieves2.jpg

Another shot taken from the venue balcony:

Nothing But Thieves3.jpg

And a joke who anyone who has mixed music may identify with  :

The Venue was all wood (Wigton) the sound when the bodies were in had to be adjusted the old-fashioned way. First track out with the crowd and see how much those guys absorb, sound and clarity.
The guitar was supreme in the soundcheck, dead once the people were in.
I put the git to 6 (not 11)

Due some sore throats we just turned it into a looong morning and instead of a full day hike it was just a short afternoon walk...
We still got the firs snow, though.

Puzzles of land: summer & winter, light & shadow, hills and meadows...

This is in front of a vacant lot. The sign was posted several weeks before the yard trash appeared, perhaps from the property across the street. The city does collect this stuff regularly, although not on the same schedule as the weekly emptying of household trash bins.

I went through old unprocessed photos and found a fly:

Fly.png

Not quite as good as I'd like it to be, but still the best shot of a fly that I've got.
Hopefully I will get more opportunities for close-ups of flies next summer, but they are quite difficult to shoot actually. In my personal estimation they start to get nervous at around 50 cm (distance to subject).

If you can catch an insect, you could slow it down greatly by popping it into a frig to cool it down (they are cold blooded).
They should also recover afterward.

Thanks for the idea, I didn't know about that.
Yet I think I would rather just try catching it in some transparent thingy and shoot it through the glass/plastic. I'm kind of soft-hearted, I admit.

I went in to work today (I know, it's Saturday), and noticed this improvised sun shade in the driver side window of a minivan in the parking lot. I think the minivan is for a student at a nursing school in the same building as my lab, but I'm not sure. The crib sheet in the window appears to be for Physical Chemistry or Thermodynamics, I think, which is a bit far afield for nursing, IMO...

A hike, again.
Woke up early to be first on the track.
Then we just got to the starting point with the bus already full. On the first kilometer around 20-40 cars passed us on that icy tarmac... So we just gave up the original goal and picked a different one, without a pub/restaurant/public road...
Well, almost without any road

The machinery could not handle that much white properly, but anyway, the whole hike was just perfect

Lovely snow photos! I've found that snow scenes can be quite challenging...

Rive said:

...for exactly that reason. I've struggled quite a bit with snow scenes before.
One advice I picked up is to use a polarizing filter (CPL (circular) or a linear) (if using a system camera).

There are also two possible hacks for achieving polarization filtering when using smartphones (& tablets):
  1. One can tape a small piece of polarizing film in front of the small lens, or
  2. One can put polarizing sunglasses in front of the small lens (though it's quite fiddly )
