Hehe, I found a larger bass drum than yours (in case you want an even larger ).
I was looking for various ways to play the orchestral/concert bass drum for a song project I am working on, and found this video... this bass drum is giant :

Concert Bass Drum 3: Playing Techniques / Vic Firth Percussion 101

Nice!
There is an optimum between playability and sound, with a 26 inch BD, you cannot get from the BD tom to the floor tom properly. Not at the height I sit anyway. A 28 inch would make that even more difficult. I would like to try it though, just to see the look on the engineer's face!

Tuesday is senior citizens day at the local pizza parlor. All-you-can-eat pizza buffet for $10 plus tax and tip, if you're over 55 IIRC. Until about the end of 2022 it was $8, according to my old credit card statements.

I time my arrival for mid afternoon, between the lunch and dinner peaks, when I can normally get a table in five minutes or less. Today they were unusually busy. I had to wait about 15 minutes, standing just outside the door to start with. This is when I left, about 4:30 PM. The line is about three times as long as when I arrived (total length, inside and outside).

A few beauties from my work colleague Katie

Oldham, I know this is the same view over and over but when the sky keeps presenting itself like this, it is too hard to resist!

'Took a new bus route to Balboa Park early in the morning. I missed my stop, requiring me to backtrack on foot an additional 1/2 mile (mostly) uphill to get to my planned destination.

Figure 1. <Untitled> Leica Summilux-M ASPH 50mm. I blew some highlights on the puppy, dang it. -- I rarely ever get to this corner of the park. It's pleasant. 'Lots of open areas.

Figure 2. "Banker's Hill neighborhood" Leica Summilux-M ASPH 50mm. Banker's Hill lies between Balboa Park and the airport.

Figure 3. "Cabrillo Bridge in the morning sunlight" Thypoch Simera 28mm.

This vantage point of the Cabrillo Bridge is what I have been scouting for months, and waiting for appropriate cloud cover (see Fig. 3). The shot required morning sunlight. I also wanted some interesting clouds in the sky: something other than completely clear or completely overcast. Interesting clouds are rare in San Diego mornings due to 1) general lack of clouds, and 2) San Diego's "marine layer" which produces overcast skies, mostly at night and lasting through the mornings.

Figure 4. "Lately I sit and ask myself, 'why have they stopped releasing the * files?' You know, the ones they were supposed to release in-full a month ago? I mean, I haven't forgotten about them. Hmm?" Leica Summilux-M ASPH 50mm.

This is one of a few benches in Balboa Park that have no discernible foot-paths to access them (see Fig. 4). I accessed an adjacent bench anyway (not shown) and drank a refreshing double espresso before catching a bus to my next destination. There were several squirrels running around the benches, but they didn't make it into the picture.

So I made it to my next destination which had a lot of people gathered together. I won't post most of my pictures here on PF due to the event's nature (it was inherently political -- maybe I'll post them on PF's sister site). But several people brought their puppies, so here's some pictures of puppies. I've also included a few pics I took after the event, on the way to the trolley station.

All pictures except for the last one were taken with the Leica Summilux-M ASPH 35mm. The last picture was with the 50mm.
